29 textcomp とは？

TEX を使っていて調べ物をすると、 時々 textcomp というのが出て来るけれど、一体何なのだろう？

とかいうのだけれど、なかなか要領を得ない。

実はこれはすでに L^ATEX に取り込まれている (だから、よほど古い L^ATEX を使っているのでない限り、 インストールの必要はない)。 あまり大したものではないみたい。 必要があって検索して、いつの間にか使っている、そういう場合が多そう。

\textbackslash とか、 \textasccicircum とか、 \textasciitilde とか、 すでに私が普段使いしているものもある。 (実は、後の二つは \^, \~ で入力できるので、 それすら obsolete なのかもしれない。) そういえば、 PDF のしおりにノルムの記号を入れるために、 \texorpdfstring{ $\|\cdot\|$} {\textbardbl ・ \textbardbl} としたことはある。これはマイナーな話題かもしれない。

コマンドのリストがあったので、一覧表を作ってみた。 LaTeX2HTML ではほとんど見えないので(だから、ここには表示されていない …ということは今後も使うことはあまりなさそうだ)、 PDF を作って、リンクを貼っておく。

もっとも、コマンドの名前そのものを見ていて面白いというのはあった。 \discount とか (何の字か分かりますか)。 \textgreater, \textless, を見て「やはり “大きい”, “小さい” は greater, less なんだ」とか。
